Sunrise Orchard's Recipes

Our recipes for soups such as Apple, Potato, and Cheddar soup will warm you up during those frigid winter days. Baked Stuff Apples, Apple Sunshine Dessert, or Sunshine Apple Pie Filling make great desserts for holidays, birthdays, or any day. Apple cinnamon yogurt muffins are an excellent way to start the day. Danish Pastry Apple Bars from Employee Nancy D.
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 c. butter
1 egg
2/3 c. milk
2 c. cornflakes
10-12 apples, sliced
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 c. milk
1 c. powdered sugar
Danish Pastry Apple Bars from Employee Nancy D.

Combine flour and salt. Cut in butter. Beat egg yolk and add enough milk to make 2/3 c. liquid; stir into flour mixture. Roll half of dough to 12X17 inches and fit into a large jelly roll pan. Sprinkle with cornflakes; then top with sliced apples. Combine sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle with apples. Roll rest of dough and cover with apples, pressing edges together. Beat egg white until frothy; brush on crust.
Bake at 375 degrees for 50 minutes. (Freezes great.) If desired, make a glaze (powdered sugar, milk, butter and vanilla) and drizzle over the warm bars.
***A Special Note for the Weekend of 10/17 - On Saturday, Nancy will be making these delicious bars for our "Pie Making 101" class that is held at 10:00 am.
