Honoring the Life and Legacy of Maynard Teach

Honoring the Life and Legacy of Maynard Teach

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Maynard Teach on Monday, December 9, 2024, at the age of 89, surrounded by his loving family. Maynard was a dedicated part of Sunrise Orchards for over 70 years. He began working alongside his father as a young boy, helping with the orchard. Later, after taking over leadership from his father, Maynard expanded the orchard’s production and sales through the addition of acreage, dwarf trees, and countless hours of hard work.

Maynard became a well-known apple grower in the Midwest and was an active member of the International Dwarf Fruit Tree Association. Even in retirement, he remained involved with Sunrise, keeping a watchful eye on the business and still working with his Yale forklift to stack harvested apples in the cold storage rooms. Apple growing was Maynard's greatest passion. Maynard's legacy lives on through Sunrise Orchards.

Sunrise Orchards is a multi-generation family owned apple orchard. Allen Teach, a third-generation apple grower, currently serves as the President of Sunrise Orchards. Since 1913, Sunrise Orchards has stood as a symbol of tradition and quality.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 am Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Luther Memorial Church in Gays Mills.  https://www.vossfh.com/obituaries/Maynard-Teach?obId=34042537
